One District One Product (ODOP):
- About
- ODOP is an approach adopted under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.
- Central Government has initiated One District One Product (ODOP) in all States/UTs of the country, as a transformational step towards-
- Realizing the true potential of a district,
- Fueling economic growth,
- Generating employment and rural entrepreneurship, Taking us to the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
- The ODOP Initiative aims to foster balanced regional development across all country districts, enabling holistic socio-economic growth across all regions.
- It will provide for the framework for value chain development and alignment of support infrastructure of the PMFME scheme. There may be more than one cluster of ODOP products in one district.
- There may be a cluster of ODOP products consisting of more than one adjacent district in a State.
- The States would identify food products for districts keeping in view the existing clusters and availability of raw materials.
- One District One Product could be perishable produce-based, cereal-based, or a food item widely produced in an area.
- Objective:
- The objective is to focus on the District of the country as a unit for converting into a manufacturing and export hub by identifying products with export potential in the District.
- Achievements of ODOP:
- ODOP GeM Bazaar:
- launched on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) on 29th August 2022 with over 200 product categories created on the platform to promote sales and procurement of ODOP products across the country.
- Promotion in International Market:
- ODOP products are showcased in various International forums such as World Economic Forum, DAVOS in May 2022, at International Yoga day (IYD) in New York, US in June 2022 etc.
- Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in Holistic Development:
- The ODOP initiative has been identified for the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in Holistic Development through One District One Product (ODOP) category in April 2022.

Districts as Export Hub (DEH):
- About:
- Department of Commerce, through DGFT launched the “Districts as Export Hubs” initiative to channel the unique potential of each District of the country and convert them into export hubs.
- Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce is the parent ministry for the “Districts as Export Hubs” initiative.
- Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is the nodal agency under the Department of Commerce for the implementation of the DEH Initiative.
- Objectives:
- To enable MSMEs, farmers and small industries benefit from export opportunities in overseas markets.
- To shift focus on District led Export Growth for self-sufficiency and self-reliance
- Attract investment in the District to boost manufacturing and exports
- Provide ecosystem for Innovation/ use of Technology at the District level to make them export competitive
- Reduce transaction cost for the exporter at various stages of export cycle
- Handholding and assistance to exporters by doorstep delivery of timely and relevant information
- To generate employment in the District
- Providing platforms for the district’s wide and global reach of products and services through E-commerce and Digital marketing. Promoting Artisans, Farmers, Handicraft, Handloom, tourism and other cottage industries.
Districts as Export Hub (DEH) Initiative:
- It aims to convert each district into an export hub for which the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry through DGFT is engaging with State / UT Governments.
- State Export Promotion Committee (SEPC) and District Export Promotion Committee (DEPC) have been constituted in all 36, States/UTs.
- An institutional mechanism is being set up in each District in the form of DEPCs that may be headed by the District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Collector/District Development Officer of the District and various other stakeholders as its members.
- The primary function of the DEPC will be to prepare and act on DEAP in collaboration with all the relevant stakeholders from the center, State and the District level.
- DEAP will include clear identification of products (goods and services) with export potential in the District. It may include:
- Institutional/other responsibilities
- Specifics of policy, regulatory and operational reform, and infrastructure/utilities/logistics interventions
- Import-export formalities
- Identifying bottlenecks/Issues in Geographical Identification (GI) production, registration, marketing and exports.
