National Monuments Authority is observing the great warrior Banda Singh Bahadur martyrdom on 25th June, 2022.
Banda Singh Bahadur (1670 – 1716)
- He was a Sikh warrior and a commander of the Khalsa army who defeated the Mughals and freed a large part of North India.
- He established a monastery at Nānded, on the bank of the river Godāvarī, where in 1708 he became a disciple of Guru Gobind Singh, who gave him the new name of Banda Bahadur.
- He established the Khalsa rule in Punjab.
- He abolished the Zamindari system, and granted property rights to the tillers of the land.
- He introduced Nanak Shahi coins.
- He was executed by Mughal ruler Farrukhsiyar
